In a historic building in Rome’s downtown area close to the very famous via Veneto, main location of the film “La dolce vita”, masterpiece of director Federico Fellini, the Hotel Ercoli is located in an ideal position for visitors that wish to stay in a hotel in Rome (whether it be for work or for pleasure) that is absolutely comfortable. In fact, from the hotel visitors may easily reach the most beautiful and famous places of Rome with public transportation, the Biblioteca Nazionale (National Library), the hospital Policlinico Umberto I, the Teatro dell’Opera (Opera Theater), Ministeries and public office.
Trams and buses take to Rome’s archaeological sites of the Fori Imperiali and of the Colosseum. They also take to piazza Navona and piazza di Spagna, heart of Baroque Rome and to a more modern Rome of shopping, to that of piazza San Pietro, center of Christianity. They all stop about 100 meters away from Hotel Ercoli which is also amongst the hotels in Rome easily reachable from the stazione Termini.
Hotel Ercoli is also one of the 2 star hotels in the via Veneto area that is much appreciated for being only a ten minute walk from Villa Borghese, the splendid city park where the Galleria Borghese is located. It holds one of the most beautiful and important collections in the world of masterpieces by Raffaello, Tiziano, Bernini, Caravaggio (and many other Italian and Flemish artists).
In the evening after work or after having visited the city, there are many restaurants and “trattorie” to choose from. They are all located in the surrounding areas of Hotel Ercoli. Visitors may spend the evening tasting typical Roman specialties accompanied by a glass of famous wine of the Castelli romani.
Via Veneto, a ten minute walk from Hotel Ercoli, today is still considered the symbol of the beautiful and care-free life, strolling amongst the coffee shops, boutiques and elegant hotels that have always embellished one of the most beautiful streets ofRome.
With every step you get the feeling that Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg will appear out of nowhere, the two unforgettable main characters of “La dolce vita“, the movie directed by Federico Fellini who knew how to masterfully portray the atmospheres and personalities of Rome during the 1950’s.
